Women in Golf Awards

Posted by Elizabeth Harwood on

The Women in Golf Awards is a prominent annual event that acknowledges the vital contributions women make across the golf industry, honouring both historical achievements and contemporary successes. Established by Nicole Wheatley and Ben Blackburn, the awards were born out of a vision to create a platform that connects, celebrates, and inspires women working within the sport. Their combined experience in the industry revealed a need to recognize the diverse talents and efforts of women in golf—spanning leadership, innovation, and grassroots contributions.

This celebration is more than just a ceremony; it serves as a gathering point for women at all career stages, providing a space to share their achievements and uplift one another. The awards cover a wide range of categories, showcasing the breadth of roles women occupy within the industry. Whether it’s breaking new ground in turfcare, leading community initiatives, or influencing the sport’s culture through branding and professional excellence, the awards highlight the multifaceted nature of women’s contributions to golf.

This year’s event is set for the evening of Thursday, November 28th, at the esteemed Foxhills Club & Resort in Surrey. Attendees will include key figures from the golf industry, along with nominees, supporters, and sponsors. The categories include:

  • Unsung Hero, celebrating those whose efforts often go unnoticed, sponsored by England Golf.
  • Brand of the Year, recognizing brands that excel in the golf space, sponsored by the BGIA.
  • International Woman, highlighting contributions on a global scale, sponsored by Perry Ellis.
  • Women’s Initiative, for groundbreaking projects that support women's participation in golf, sponsored by PING.
  • Women in Turfcare, celebrating women excelling in the technical and often underrepresented field of turf management, sponsored by BIGGA.
  • Women PGA Professional, spotlighting outstanding PGA professionals, sponsored by TGI Golf Partnership.
  • Women’s Leadership, recognizing those leading the charge in various roles, sponsored by the GCMA.
  • Rising Star, highlighting emerging talents within the industry, sponsored by Club Car

Among this year’s shortlisted candidates for the Brand of the Year is FAMARA, which stands alongside major players like Adidas. This acknowledgment underscores the brand’s dedication to offering distinctive, bold, and empowering golf apparel that caters to women who wish to stand out on the course. Being shortlisted alongside a global brand like Adidas is a testament to FAMARA’s impact and influence in the industry

Nicole Wheatley, one of the co-founders, has been a vocal advocate for diversity in golf, emphasizing the importance of visibility and recognition for women’s achievements. She believes that celebrating these stories will inspire more women to pursue careers in the sport, creating a more inclusive and innovative golf community. Wheatley's work through the Women in Golf Awards is instrumental in shining a spotlight on the talents and contributions of women, ensuring their stories are heard and appreciated

As the event approaches, it serves as a reminder of the power of community and recognition in driving change. By celebrating those who lead, inspire, and innovate, the Women in Golf Awards not only honour individual achievements but also contribute to shaping a more diverse and dynamic future for the entire golf industry.
